SEO - Strategic Link Building Part 3 of 3 (Read Part 1 | Read Part 2) One-way, Two-way & Three-way Linking
Over the years, SEO marketers have devised different ways in which to either work within or avoid restrictions laid down by Google and other search engines. One-way linking has always been king when it comes to quality linking strategies - the most prestigious and highly rewarded, but it’s so difficult to receive one way linking unless you have an information only site. What do you do if you are a small business and you don’t have a high Google PR or ranking?
As Google sees reciprocal linking as much less of a recommendation between sites, three-way linking was thought to be a way to fool Google into counting each link a one-way only. Three-way linking works on the principle that, if you own two sites you can create triangles instead of two-way linking to fool Google into counting all links as one-way links.
This appeared to work for a while but Google now collates so much information and maps out such a detailed plan of what links go where and who links to whom, that the latest SEO articles I am reading suggest it is no longer worthwhile. All you need to consider is how relevant and trusted the site will look to Google.

Another factor that Google considers is the quality of the page with your back link. The more links that are added to a page the more watered-down the quality of that back link will be for you. So, a page with a long list of links and no other content is not going to be very valuable, even from a good quality source.

Linking is an ongoing, time-consuming but very worthwhile exercise if done correctly; and should be a part of your SEO and online marketing strategy.
